ROUS RIVER CANOE TRAIL LAUNCH

More than 40 people came together for a guided tour of the new Rous River Canoe Trail on Saturday 31 August.

Council’s Project Officer – Waterways, Matthew Bloor, said the weather and conditions were perfect for a nice day on the water. “It was great to see such a large flotilla of kayaks exploring the beautiful Rous River estuary,” Mr Bloor said. “Paddlers learned about the history of early European settlement at Tumbulgum, projects undertaken by Council and the local community to improve the health of the estuarine environment.”

Matthew was ably assisted with local knowledge by North Tumbulgum resident David McKenzie.
